I am Aunt Rene, not my real name it is Maureen.

So Thankful Tomorrow is Friday!

I am so very thankful that tomorrow is Friday. I try not to spend my entire week saying I can't wait until Friday. The beginning of this week, Monday especially I was so ready for Friday. I have had a houseful of kiddos everyday except for Wednesday. This was a blessing that I only had 3 kiddos yesterday.
The kids have just been wild. Must be the Spring weather. I have been worn out. It is only a little after 6 p.m and I am ready to go soak in a hot tub, put on the p.j's and will probably be in bed asleep by 8. At least in bed reading a book by then. I have been awake since 3:40a.m and up since before 5a.m.
I haven't been sleeping well lately, I just lay there and think of everything I need to get done. I really got a lot done today so hopefully I will be able to sleep.
I hope everyone has had a great week, and that you have a wonderful weekend. The weather is supposed to be wonderful here this weekend. I would love to take Rocky to the park for a nice walk.. We shall see.

Potty Story.

I figured it was time for a Potty Story. This one has no Day Care kiddos involved, Last night when we were leaving Olive Garden My sister M3 and I stopped in the restroom. Inside there were 2 teenage girls and a little girl who was probably 5. The 2 teenagers were preening in the mirror and little girl was just scurrying around in there doing things a 5 year old does. I head for empty stall, I hear M3 knocking on stall doors and no one is answering, She turns to teenage girl and says, "Are they all full" Teen ager replies, "No, she crawled underneath and locked all the doors" M3 replies "OH" finally teenage girl realizes only person to fix problem is 5 year old and says to her "Climb back under there and unlock the doors".
Oh to be 5... Full of life, mischief, adventure and never once worry about all the germs on restroom floor.
By the way M3= equals 3rd child of 6 whose names all begin with M....

We had some fun tonight.

I have a nice large family, I am the oldest of 6. There are 4 girls and 2 boys. We all live close to each other within like 8 miles I think and I usually see and or talk to each of them a couple of times a week or more.
Tonight my 2 sisters and myself took my mom to Olive Garden for dinner. We started out later than we would of liked because one of my daycare mommies is a chatter and was chatting at work. She is a great mom, and one of my favorite daycare parents. But we really wanted to get going. I could of just took Chubba with us.. Whooo that would of been fun.. he is a good little boy lots of fun.. and BUSY!!!
Olive Garden was great, the food was superb and mom and I both brought enough home for at least one meal each maybe 2. The service was fantastic.
and the prices were great because we had been gifted with a bunch of gift cards for Christmas and we used those tonight, well a couple of them. The company was fantastic. We really had a good time.
After Olive Garden we went to Joann's Plus... Oh my goodness I had only been there once before I had forgotten about the size of that store. They have Everything. We went for fabric to cover pillows for the living room. This is the 2nd time we have bought fabric, hopefully the pillows will get covered before we end up with new furniture.
I just want to say this night was great, and it would of only been better if my other sister and sister in laws could of went.. (yeah even whiner baby,I mean Tammy). I hope if you have sisters, you grab your mom and go out to dinner and a little shopping, Have Fun.... oh we sure did.

Flat Trisha

The New Dora The Explorer

Have you all seen this picture of the new Dora The Explorer. I am not saying it is good or bad, its definitely different. I think this new Dora would be more appealing to my niece who is 7 then the original Dora. I also believe the Original Dora who looks like a toddler is a lot more appealing to the kiddos who are under the age of 5 and actually watch Dora the Explorer. I am not sure New Dora is going to appeal as much to my little kiddos who like to watch Dora when I turn it on, Not often, we don't watch much television.
I guess it just goes to show, Nothing stays the same.
Everyone ages I suppose even Miss Dora, so what is going to Happen to Diego, and Boots goodness he must be grey by now. They can't possibly just stop at Dora, they must all age. Will she still carry a Backpack.. Hmmm we shall see this fall.

The Front Porch

Do you have a Front Porch? I do, it is wonderful. We use that front porch everyday that we can. Today is one of those days. It amazes me that I am sitting in a rocking chair on my front porch and blogging. Wow, We've came a long way baby!! ( Now you guys know how old I am, that is an old saying from an old commercial from way back). Those pictures are of my front porch today. And Yes that is Rocky looking at me like I am a lunatic for daring to leave him inside. Also normally we have 2 American flags, but the Wind twisted the Flag holder, and I have to buy a new one.

The Front Porch is like an extension to our house. Its another room. It might only be able to be used for about 8 months of the year. But it is wonderful. Our Front Porch is large, we have 3 large Rocking Chairs, 2 small Rocking Chairs, and a large Bench on the porch. Sometimes they are all full plus the stairs.

The Front Porch is nice because it keeps you in touch with the world. Neighbors go by, they wave or stop and chat. Sometimes, total strangers will wave or toot their horns, of course we wave back. The Front Porch is so welcoming to me. I can't imagine a home without a porch.

We also have a back porch, it is nice because it is all screened in, My mom loves to sit out there and watch all the birds that come to feed in the feeders. The Squabbling Messy Blue Jays, the Cardinals our state bird, The Doves, the Nuthatchers, the Wrens and Sparrows. We also have quite a few Hummingbirds in the Backyard in the Summer. They are amazing little creatures and last year we found a little Hummingbird nest. So tiny.

Well I guess that is all for now, If you do have a Front Porch I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Bake Sale, HELP!!!

Our Family has a Relay for Life Team. If you are not familiar with Relay for Life , It is a All Night Walk, for the American Cancer Society. Teams raise money, by having Car Washes, Bake Sales, Asking for Sponsorship, Spaghetti Dinners, Raffles, anything they can think of to help raise money. We need to find a cure for Cancer. Cancer unfortunately has touched our family many times. I lost my Fiance to Cancer in June of 2006, One of my Brother In Laws lost his Mom to Cancer, and his grandfather, Another Brother In Law lost his Dad recently. My Mom is a Cancer Fighter. She was diagnosed in 2005 and has been fighting it since then. She undergoes Chemo even now. She has had Surgeries, Chemo's, Radiation. Everything. We are lucky she is strong, and quite the fighter and is doing pretty well right now. New Chemo with very few Side Effects is a huge help.

So The Bake Sale. On Saturday April 11th, we are hosting a Bake Sale. We meaning our Team which consists of My 5 Brothers and Sisters, their spouses, and all of my nieces and nephews. A Large group. We will be baking fools. I was wondering if anyone out there has any ideas.
Things that maybe you have made for Bake Sales, Items you like to buy at Bake Sales, Anything Different or Anything You just love. I would love to try some new things. If you could send me Recipes, or just give me Ideas it would be great.
So far I am considering attempting to make some of Bakerella's Cake Pops. I am going to try them this week, and then I will know if I can do it or not. Wouldn't they be cute in a bouquet for easter. I am also considering a recipe of the Great Paula Deen, It is a Cookie/Candy recipe that involves my favorites, Butter, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate.. hello sounds yummy.
Well let me know... I can't wait to see what suggestions I get back.
I am willing to try about anything. You never know maybe there will be a little surprise if I use your recipe, or suggestions.

Oh What a Beautiful Morning!!!

Oh it is so nice outside today. Just beautiful here in Ohio. It is only 34 degrees but the sun is shining. I have been busy running errands and it is so nice to be able to do it without all of the winter clothes on. I do not like driving a car with a winter coat on makes me crazy. I ran to the Post Office and mailed the Girl Scout cookies to my winner Kebi in Oklahoma. I then went to the Amish Grocery store, it is a Bent and Dent store, but boy do they have good buys. From there I drove down the road to the Amish Bulk Food store. Lots of goodies there I bought my mom a homemade Cherry Pie that might be the prettiest pie I have ever seen. The little Amish girl who is 9 said she baked it.. She is talented. Too bad I don't like Fruit pies because it looks yummy. I don't like Fruit..
I bought some homemade Chocolate Easter Eggs, Yum Yum! also grabbed a bag of the marshmallow for the kids cereal it will be a fun treat for the kiddos. They are the marshmallows like are in Lucky Charms. I have some Rice Krispies I will throw those in this week for a treat for the kiddos. Also bought my favorite Bulk Walnuts, I love Walnuts and they just taste so good from this store. Fresh I guess. Beats me Why.
Well I am going to make my mom some Lunch and then I think I will run around a little more. This is a treat for me, I usually stay at home quite a bit. I am thinking about hitting the Goodwill stores, Looking for a few new things for the kiddos. I also need to refill my Extra Clothes Box. Its running on empty.

Overheard at Sam's Club

Tonight I made a run to Sam's Club. Now Sam's is about a 25 or 30 minute drive, more with the stop over for a little Taco Bell supper on the way.
I overheard something at Sam's that just made me giggle.
I have to share.
I saw a nice looking couple with 3 little girls in their cart, they were next to me in an aisle. The father says to the mom, "Honey, here is pudding in the individual little packages for the girls". Mother looks at father and replies"They are not Sugar Free." Father, sarcastically says, "Oh, They Have to be Sugar Free". Mommy's turn... she says"They do if you want me to still have hair on my head when you get home from work each day". Honestly it just made my day.. I couldn't hold the giggle in. Just so you know, her 3 little girls were being absolute angels. Oh a great day!!!

Friday the 13th.

I blogged about today being my niece Roo's birthday, didn't even think about the fact it is Friday the 13th. So far today has been great. Lets see I have 7 little boys who are waking up from naps in 2 minutes. One little girl who went home with her mommy. She doesn't count She is The Princess, my youngest niece. She is honestly just too adorable. I would show you guys pictures but you would die from the Sweetness.
She left here an excited baby girl. Honestly is it bred into females to love new shoes. I won a fantastic giveaway, and the prize was a pair of Jack and Lily shoes. I am telling you what a wonderful company. So fast. Those little shoes were just adorable. They are a mint green with the word Princess across the toes in pink. I will take a picture of them tomorrow for the world to see on her little feet. The box they came in. Just adorable. The Princess loved the box as much as the shoes.
Last night, Dinner with "My Boys" was just so much fun, We ate , talked, then we ate dessert, and talked some more.. Then we just talked.. They are an awesome group of young men. Last night it was Baby Smurph (19) his bro Smurph(22) Tall and Skinny(22) his gf( yes we let other females come, so I am not totally outnumbered) Miss A she is (23), Chuck Dawg (23) Big Joe (23) and me.. And yes I am 46.. I worked with all these boys except Tall and Skinny for about 5 years. We have stayed close since then. I am lucky to have them in my life. They sometimes keep me from going insane and other days they drive me insane.
Well I am about to start my weekend.. I can not wait... I am also hoping to make it to Friday Night Live on Momdot.com tonight.. It is fun.. Trisha is crazy. Hmm wonder if she will be having Sangria or Coke tonight.. Who knows.

Ok, Ok, I won't embarass you, not on my blog. You may of started out life early and tiny. I remember the first time I saw you thru the NICU window. They held you up for me to see and you grinned.. NO you did not have gas. You have had that beautiful smile on your face since that day.

I hope you have a Wonderful Birthday, Hard to believe that little baby girl is now in college, and engaged to be married. Have Great Fun Roo Girl.

Busy Day!!!

I have 6 kiddos today.. Busy. Right now it is naptime.. Yeah !!! I love naptime. They are all asleep on their little beds. The wee babe is fast asleep in his Pack n Play. Even the dog and cat are asleep, and my mom figured she might as well go and take a nap. The peace will end in one hour. 2:30 Wake up from Naps, Get everyone pottied, changed, shoes on, pick up 2 girls from school, snack, pack up bags, parents in and out.
Then it will be breathing time. Busy Busy, tonight will be fun "My Boys" are all coming over for dinner, I haven't spent any time with them since last Monday. That is a long time.
We are going to have Pasta, Salad, Garlic Bread, and something for dessert. Haven't decided what yet, Maybe Apple Crisp. It is a chilly 24 degrees, Apple Crisp is a good cold weather day dessert.
We ususally go out to dinner but I like to cook. I can cook a whole meal for all of us for what it would cost just for me to go to dinner.
We may even play Cards, or Scrabble, or something after dinner.. Or Chat. We are all talkers, Shocker I know to anyone who knows me to find out I like to talk.
It is almost friday.. Yeah!!!! So Happy!!!
Busy weekend planned, I definitely need to go to Sam's. We are running out of everything, I also need to go to the Amish Grocery for Bread, I have one loaf left in the freezer.

Clean out the Fridge Day!!!

Today is Clean out the Fridge Day!! I do this often, see what is Trash, what is Treasure. I found lots of Treasures today.. Yeah!! I love being able to dump a bunch of leftovers in the slow cooker and having dinner finished.
Today I had assorted leftover veggies, corn, green beans, stewed tomatoes, hmmm Left over Roast with onion, potatoes, onions, See where this is going, left over mashed potatoes, about 3 tablespoons full.. Yep.. That's right dump it all in.. Pour in a whole container of Swansons Vegetable Broth and it smells yummy in the house already.
Vegetable Beef Soup. Thick, Hot, and Delish smelling.
Thinking I will be making more meals from this, might put some dumplings on part of it for dinner today. Then Freeze about half of the rest, and then later this week throw it in my Temp-tations bakeware lay some unrolled Crescent Rolls on top and TAhDAh!!! The kiddos will have Beef Veggie Pot pie for lunch.
Does anyone else love Temp-Tations bakeware as much as I do. They are honestly the best. They are so pretty, and they go from the oven, to the fridge, to the freezer, and you can even microwave in them. I use mine everyday.

Update, I have already had 2 emails and a comment asking about TempTations. TempTations is a terrific line of Bakeware from QVC. I am lucky enough to have a mom who is a QVC junky. She has purchased MOST of us girls some TempTations(everyone but Tammy, Mom buys her other great stuff, Tammy will be on here whining in a bit.) Anyways, I am going to be doing a post soon with my favorite things in it. I will be hosting a giveaway at the same time.. I am thinking TEMPTATIONS for the giveaway.. we will wait and see because I have LOTS of Favorite things that are awesome, just some hints: Original Rapsberry Chipotle Sauce, Country Bob's Country Sauce, Kitchen Aid anything (love that companys appliances) I don't know what will be in the giveaway, but it will be something from my list of Favorite things, So be sure to watch for the post coming up soon.

Kids will tell you Anything, Beware Parents

Oh the kiddos, you never never know what they are going to say. Recently my sister was over during the day while the kiddos were here. She brings the Princess over to play with the kiddos. I have a little guy who I have watched since he was 6 weeks old he is now 4. Just turned 4. We call him Chubba.
Sis comes out of the playroom where the children were eating lunch and I can tell by her eyes that something had her tickled.. Chubba.... oh the kid is too funny.
He said to Sis "Hey Sis guess what, Sis says what Chubba??? (she assumed this would be something in reference to lunch) Chubba Replies" My Dad, He sometimes Puts His Hand on My Mom's Butt!!!" Sis replies, OH!!! (she wasn't sure what to say to this child) That Chubba.. he is too much!
You never know what he will say next. I could write a book with things he tells.

Still Alive!!!

I am still alive, Still have the Crud, maybe a little better. I have a houseful of Kiddos coming today.. Woo should be fun with the Crud.
I have decided that it isn't a Crush on Mike the Weather Man as of this morning's weather report it is True Love. It is 49 degree here right now and Mike says it will be 67degrees by 3 this afternoon.
With weather like that I may make it thru the Crud. The Kiddos and I are hitting the great outdoors. Can't wait.

Announcing, I think I have the Crud!

I woke up this morning having a fantastic day. Helped that Mike the Weather Man told me exciting news. I read the papers online. Checked my emails, Checked to see if there were any giveaways I needed to sign up for, everything was great. The kiddos started arriving, Got everyone fed breakfast, the wee babe down for his morning nap. Life is good!!!!
Until, about 8:30 it hit me.. I don't know where it came from, if I had seen it coming I would of ducked. The crud... that's right.. runny nose, sneezing, aching, coughing, sore throat, plugged up ears.. How, How does that happen. I was fine, and now. I feel like CRUD... I need some kind of magic to appear to get rid of the Creeping Crud. I just want to take a nice long bath, and go to bed.. Hmmmm who will take care of the kiddos, and pick the other kiddos up from school(OOh no they get out early for conferences).My good day has turned Sour. I think I know where the Crud came from the kiddos, nothing but runny noses, and sneezes from about half of them.
Well I shall post again when the Crud has disappeared. I just don't have the energy.. Anyone know of a good remedy to get rid of the Crud..

Crush on the Weather Man

I probably should not admit this, but I have a Crush on the Weather Man this morning. He has made a promise to me this morning. He promised sunshine, high temperature of 57degrees, a beautiful "Spring Like" day he said.. I am just giddy, Mike(weather man) please don't let me down. Please let Mother Nature know we need this day.
The kiddos will be able to run and play outdoors. We will be able to take a walk. The walk may even last longer than it takes me to get everyones, boots, hats, coats, mittens on. Oh, Mike.. You are the MAN!!!
I hope everyone's Weather Man is as good to them today as "My" Man has been to me.

Book List, 12 Books!

I don't know if you noticed or not but I have a Book List at the bottom of my page. It lists the books that I have read since Jan 1. I have usually read more than this by now, but Blogging ha cut into some of my reading time.
I am reading book 12 now. I have become addicted to certain authors, this is normal for me. I find a author, or publishing house that I like and read everything I can get my hands on by that author. Right now Karen Kingsbury is my choice, I love her books. She is a amazing writer. I highly recommend her books to you. I also have enjoyed books by Wanda Brunstetter so far this year. I went to Ollies looking for books by these 2 women. I found 2 Karen Kingsbury. I have read one already last night. If you have the opportunity to pick up some of her books you should do it. They are great reading.
Wanda Brunstetters books are fantastic also. I read the Daughters of Lancaster County series by her. They are about the Amish and the way of life they enjoy in Lancaster County. I enjoyed this series as I have been to Lancaster County on Vacation a couple of years ago. We had so much fun.
